Vehicle/equipment battery

Multicolored LED light:

  • Green = Normal voltage level
  • Orange = Too low voltage
  • Red = Critically low voltage
Note: VOCOM Tough does not have an internal battery. When VOCOM Tough is connected to a vehicle/equipment, the battery icon displays the voltage level of the connected vehicle/equipment’s battery.

Computer-USB connection

Multicolored LED light:

  • Steady green light = USB powered
  • Flashing green light = Computer communication activity
  • Steady orange light = Booting
  • Flashing orange light = Firmware update

After connecting VOCOM Tough via USB, when the Computer-USB connection is steadily lit green, VOCOM Tough is ready to communicate.

Warning

Multicolored LED light:

  • Steady orange light = Warning
  • Steady red light = Critical error
  • Flashing orange light = Temperature over the limit

Note: Orange light means that the temperature of the device is very high. Stop using the device until the ambient temperature is low enough. The optimum operating temperature is -40°C to +85°C.

Note: Critical errors are logged in an internal device error list. Clearing the device error list using VOCOM Configurator resets the state of the warning LEDs.

Wireless connection

Blue LED light:

  • Slowly flashing blue light while no wireless signal bars are lit = Searching for a connection
  • Steady blue light = Connected
  • Fast flashing blue light = Wireless communication

When using VOCOM Tough in wireless operation mode, the wireless connection icon will be lit blue, confirming that the VOCOM Tough has been successfully connected to a client network.

Wireless signal

  • Red bar = Wireless connectivity problem
  • Green bars = Signal strength quality

Depending on the mode of operation, the wireless signal icon shows the signal strength of the related connection.

Access point mode
In access point mode, the wireless signal icon shows the signal strength between the VOCOM Tough device and the USB adapter that is attached to the computer. Make sure to place your computer as close as possible to the VOCOM Tough device (all four signal bars will be lit green in this case), ensuring an uninterrupted connection.

Infrastructure mode
In infrastructure mode, the wireless signal icon shows the signal strength between the VOCOM Tough device and the Wi-Fi router. Since the Wi-Fi router itself is mounted in a fixed location, the vehicle and the VOCOM Tough device both need to be close to the router to ensure an uninterrupted connection.

Smart cable connectivity

Green LED light:

  • Steady green light = Smart cable connected

Note: The smart cable is compatible only with Renault legacy trucks.

VOCOM Tough - Reset button

The reset button for factory reset is integrated into the front protector.

Resetting the VOCOM II device to factory defaults will reset the following:

  • Device name
  • Paired client
  • Wireless configuration

Note: Resetting the device does not revert the firmware version.

Instructions: Reset configuration
