Configure VOCOM Mini in Android mode

VOCOM devices can be configured to connect and pair to an Android device instead of a PC. In this case, the diagnostic application, such as Workshop Toolbox or Diagnostic Toolbox, is running on the Android device.

The VOCOM Mini device is connected to the vehicle/equipment’s OBD port/Diagnostic connector. The connection between the VOCOM Mini and the Android device is wireless.

Note: Tech Tool is not available in Android.

How to configure

Android mode allows your VOCOM Mini to connect to an Android device while the Android device remains connected to the internet through its mobile network.

Step 1: Set VOCOM Mini to Android mode

Note: Android mode is available on Mini devices with firmware version 4.08 or later.

  1. Press and hold the device button on the VOCOM II Mini until you hear three short beeps.
  2. Release the button immediately after the third beep.

The VOCOM Mini is now in Android mode. The blue LED will blink, indicating that the device is not paired with any Android device yet.

Step 2: Connect from the Android device

  1. Open the Diagnostic Suite app on your Android device.
  2. Select the desired tool in the app.

VOCOM devices in Android mode will appear in the list as Unpaired.

Step 3: Send a pairing invitation

Select the required VOCOM Mini from the list. This sends a pairing invitation to the device, and the status changes to Initiated. The Android device is now waiting for confirmation from the VOCOM.

Step 4: Confirm pairing on the VOCOM

Press the device button once. You should hear one short beep, confirming the pairing.

  • The status in the Diagnostic Suite app changes to "Available".
  • Note: When pairing is successful, the VOCOM Mini shows a steady blue LED.

Step 5: Connect to the vehicle

Select the VOCOM device with status "Available". The status changes to "Busy" while it connects to the vehicle.
