Configuring a VOCOM Tough in Wi-Fi infrastructure mode means the device connects to an existing Wi-Fi network that your computer is also connected to.
A VOCOM Tough can be configured for infrastructure mode from either USB mode or access point mode. The procedure is the same regardless of the current operating mode.
5. Select the target Wi-Fi network from the Available Wireless Networks list, or enter the network name (SSID) manually. Make sure your computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the VOCOM Tough to use.
Note: For security reasons, open networks (no password protection) are not supported for VOCOM configuration.
6. Select the Authentication method that matches your network:
Note: Regardless of your organization's password criteria, for cybersecurity reasons, VOCOM always expects a password with a minimum of 8 characters.
7. If you selected EAP-PEAP or EAP-TLS, click Load Certificate, then select and load the CA certificate. For more information, see Authentication types in infrastructure mode.
Note:
8. Click on the "Activate Unicast" button for the VOCOM device to be discoverable only by your computer. If unicast is not enabled, the VOCOM device can be discovered by any computer on the same network that has the VOCOM Configurator installed. Read more here.
9. Ensure the Hostname and DNS Server values are correct. These fields are automatically retrieved and populated by the Configurator application, but they are network-specific, so it is recommended to verify them.
10. To check the details, you could use the Windows > command prompt > type “ipconfig/all” and get the information
11. Click the Save icon. You will be prompted to pair the VOCOM with your computer by entering a name to identify the computer. Then click the Restart icon. If you connected the device using the USB/ECTA-12 cable, disconnect it from the computer after the VOCOM has restarted.
12. Your computer is now connected to the VOCOM Tough in infrastructure mode via the selected Wi-Fi network, so you also retain internet access through that network. Confirm that the device is in infrastructure mode by checking the indicators highlighted in red.
13. After the restart, ensure the VOCOM is paired with your computer. If it is not, click Pair to complete the pairing.
