How to map VOCOM devices

Default configuration

The default VOCOM RP1210 Device ID mapping is as follows:

Device IDMapped Device
Device ID 1First connected VOCOM device
Device ID 2First WLAN-connected VOCOM device
Device ID 3First connected VOCOM device
Device ID 4First connected VOCOM Mini device

Change mapping

To change the mapping of logical RP1210 Device IDs to VOCOM 2+ devices, do the following:

1. Open VOCOM Configurator.

2. Start the mapping by clicking Menu > Mapping.

3. Assign one or more Device IDs to VOCOM serial numbers.

  • In the Mode column, select the connection mode to be used for a particular Device ID.
  • In the Device column, select the VOCOM to be assigned to a particular Device ID.

4. Click Save.

Mode

The Mode column defines which type of connection is allowed for the device ID:

  • USB: Only USB connection.
  • Wi-Fi: Only wireless connection.
  • AUTO: USB or Wi-Fi connection. USB connection will always be preferred.

Device

The Device column defines which type of device is allowed for the device ID:

  1. Tough: Only the VOCOM Tough will be used.
  2. Mini: Only the VOCOM Mini will be used.
  3. None: Not mapped to any device. This ID will not get a connection.
  4. SN7XXXXX: Only the defined VOCOM will be used.

Because VOCOM Tough and VOCOM Mini support different protocols, they must not use the same device ID.

When you configure mapping using a serial number, the mapping is locked to that specific VOCOM. As a result, the diagnostic application will connect only to the VOCOM with the specified serial number and will not connect to other VOCOM devices.

This is useful if you have multiple VOCOM devices available and need to control which one the diagnostic application uses, especially in applications where you cannot select the device manually.

Name

The Name column cannot be changed and simply reflects the chosen device.
